SCMT Scholarship FAQ's

Who may benefit from a SCMT Scholarship?

Anyone may benefit from a SCMT Scholarship, from families taking the class for the first time to families who have been part of the SCMT family for years.

Do I need to divulge personal financial information?

No, no financial data is asked for, the honor system rules here.  If you request a scholarship we take you at your word that you need the assistance.  Simply answer the questions on the Scholarship page and your request will be considered.

How are the scholarships awarded?

The questions on the Scholarship page are answered by the applicant and submitted to SCMT's director, Rhonda Plourde, via email or USPS.  Once the application has been processed the available funds are reviewed and scholarship amounts are determined.  Every measure is taken to provide opportunities to all applicants, however sometimes this is fiscally not possible.

May a scholarship recipient apply for subsequent scholarships?

Yes, a previous recipient is welcome to apply for a second or even third scholarship, but is asked to use the Scholarship Renewal Application.

Are scholarships ever denied?

On occasion, yes. Unfortunately there are a few people who may not value the principals of South Coast Music Together, and therefore not truly benefit from the program. It is only fair in that case to pass the scholarship along to a family that will benefit from this family, and community, music making experience. This is rare, and examples of scholarship denials are; an unwillingness on the part of an adult to participate in class, having multiple absences that are not due to a special circumstance, etc.

If you have further question please do not hesitate to ask them. You may reach SCMT via the "contact us" option at the top of the page.
